Following on the previous introductory webinar, this training will focus on the specifics of safety planning. It will emphasize the importance of creating individualized understandings of how to maintain safety when working with refugee and immigrant clients.

This webinar is aimed at front-line and management staff of organizations working with refugee and immigrant populations  whose scope of practice includes GBV safety planning with survivors. It will be especially relevant for case management staff, including intensive case management caseworkers and case managers.

Alena Victor is Director, Residential Programs at Womankind. Her work includes providing program oversight to Womankind’s two emergency residential programs (shelters), 24/7 helpline, and Pathways 2 Empowerment program, which focuses its work within the intersections of entitlements, economic empowerment, and housing. Alena has over 12 years’ experience working with immigrant communities, nine of which have focused in the gender-based violence field.

Manager, Community Education and Outreach @Womankind
Reema Sharma is Manager, Community Education and Outreach at Womankind. Her work includes engaging and educating community members about gender-based violence, particularly emphasizing cultural dynamics that tend to foster and perpetuate this violence. Reema has over five years of experience working with immigrant communities in NYC, both as a community organizer and an educator.
